localzuk Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 One part of our SIMS system that I simply don't have much knowledge of is SOLUS. As such, I have discovered that the .ldf file for the SOLUS3 database has grown to 5.9GB. Any tips to reduce this thing down to a sensible size? The actual SOLUS3 database is only 8.3MB... On a similar vein, the Discover .ldf file is 1.2GB for a 400MB .mdf file, so this could probably do with a prod too...
Ghostgame Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 It will depend on your backup solution I guess. Because we generate .bak files for backups, we use SQL Management Studio to shrink .ldf's. We change the Recovery model from Full to Simple. (Right click database --> Properties --> Options) Then we shrink the .ldf files on the database. (Right click database --> Tasks --> Shrink --> Files) Make sure the File type is change from Data to Log, and then shrink away.
localzuk Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Odd that SOLUS3 was set to full, our LEA handles that - the rest are set to Simple. Changed and shrank now.
