Definitive guide to setting up android devices for schools?

I'd like people's help making a guide of best practices for android devices.

 

What MDMs people recommend and their prices and limitations. Eg the free Meraki, AIUI, can't auto install android apps.

 

How to most efficiently set up many devices, least amount of human interaction. Two versions: locked down cloned setups, and pre setup before giving to an individual staff/pupil for them to log in to.

 

After initial setup how to keep updated, update OS, apps, deploy new apps (free, paid, maybe private)

 

How to use Google Apps for Education and Device Policy effectively.

 

How to stop people messing up the devices, disabling/deleting wifi, moving icons on homescreen.

 

What will the new Android For Work system bring to the table?
