ITGURU Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Hello I've sucesffully enabled the GPO object 'Do not show the run item on the start menu' and this stops users typing unc paths in the My Computer address bar resulting in an 'Access has been disallowed; message. However, no matter what I enable users can still go into the Open/Save box and enter a UNC path \\servername into the file name box and retrieve the shares on the remote server. having checked this with other schools, they say that removing the run item is the only setting that has been applied, I've tested this both on a new OU with no policy inheritance and creating the new policy with no difference. Also applied the setting on a brand new Active directory domain and still, the policy is only denying access via the my computer address bar and no in the office applications. Please could someone confirm if this works for them, denying unc paths in Office and if so what settings you have enabled. thanks
