Bright projector for sunny hall

So we need a new projector for our hall. The hall is windows all down one side so it's very bright in there.

 

Could do with projecting to an absolute max. of 2.4m squared - (that's the actual size of the screen). However, would be nice to have the projector seated as close to the screen as possible. Can can't have it ceiling mounted due to the height of the ceiling (and ball games in there) so either short throw or we'll continue to use a table and set it up every day...which is really frustrating!

 

Any ideas or recommendations?

Funnily enough I'm just looking into replacing our projector this exact same reason. Our throw is 18m and on a sunny day its tosh, the screen is 4m x 3m I'm having a demo of a laser projector next week, I think its an NEC. I will let you know if its up to the job as it may be an option for you.

That sounds interesting! What sort of price do they begin at?

The first thing I said was, that sounds exprensive, but I'm assured that they are not much more expensive than a standard projector. I will know next week what model and price etc... and I will let you know. We need a heavy duty one as we have a decent throw distance but you might get away with a more standard one. Ive just googled laser projector and a few came up

Short throw would do it. Or for a straight swap 5000 ansi lumens upwards. I've got a 6500 AL projecting to 5m sq from 9m away and that's pretty fine most of the time. MASSIVE windows in there too albeit with blinds for really sunny days.

See I can't find a short throw which will give that size projection.

Need to go and measure the hall - it's possible we could have it at the back of the hall (it's not too big), secured to the wall there somehow. What do you use?

Its a big Acer one. Not sure of the model now. The DLP chip went in it after about 2 years - replaced under warranty.

 

Got to avpartsmaster.co.uk. Look down the left at the bottom. They've got a projector throw calculator. Its handy.

I reckon you'll get a short throw that will do 2.5m no probs.

Otherwise you could always buy a short boom and move a short throw back away from the wall a bit to increase the image size.

 

One of these would do it but they're flippin' expensive - Infocus IN5544

Have you considered having the projector mounted at the rear of the hall in a cage. You would need a long throw lens as well as a high lumen projector probably around the 6000 range.

I was thinking the same Anthony, but have just been and looked - directly across from the screen are some internal windows, so there'd be no where to attach it. Unless we used suction cups haha!
