Hi all,

As part of our EES, we have been given Office 365 ProPlus logins for students and staff.

At the moment when I create a new user in the portal, the email address is [email protected]

Is there any way I can get it to use my domain name*school.sch.uk instead as people are complaining of having to remember the different email address!

I don't want to move email or any other service over to Office 365, we just want to use it for OneDrive and creating documents on BYOD.

Regards

If you setup with your own domain will give you the option to use the @school.sch.uk domain name, and aslong as your DNS Settings aren't edited to point to Office 365 via your host provider your emails should still go through the current way :)

I set up ours yesterday and am in the process of adding our own domain name to it. You have to prove that you own the domain by adding either a MX or TXT record to your host provider, and once that is verified the domain name is added to the list for you to use.

OWA on exchange uses myschool.net domain not school.sch.uk so I don't think it is possible.

I think local authority might host the .sch.uk address for us though so will ask them

That's odd, I might be thinking wrong as I did mine ages and ages ago, but I'm sure I only needed to at the MX or TXT records in order to use the email functionality, as I got the County Broadband team to change this in the holidays after I had already set everyones account up using the schools domain.

In that case the teachers email address will still be different and they will be remembering a different one as there current is [email protected] and for one drive it would be [email protected]?

So it seems pointless to change it as they will still need to remember a different email address...

Or am I getting the wrong impression?

You can use any domain you wish for 365. the onmicrosoft.com one will always exist.

If you are currently using myschool.net, then as long as you know who hosts your DNS, you can add that domain into 365, and get the TXT file for your DNS provider to add in so that Microsoft can validate your domain ownership.
