Josh223 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Hello, Sorry if this is in the wrong place. We are currently using Apples MDM for to manage our iPads and iPhones and have been looking into some of the custom settings which you can apply. Does anyone know a way of forcing Find my iPhone to be turned on and also the "Send last location?" Thanks,
geekgirl Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Have you tried looking at Meraki MDM Systems Manager (https://meraki.cisco.com/)? I've been using the product since it started. A good little free trial (I've had mine for 3 years!) to help with iPads in terms of profiles, restrictions and locating the devices. More info here on initial setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbq6d5v7xRc I use it side by side with Apple Configurator.
jallsop Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Most true MDM tools still need you to use apple configurator at some point, just to install the MDM profile. We use Filewave. No DEP yet, as we purchased the iPads around 12 months ago, and our reseller hasn't got around to signing up yet gggrrr! The Configurator offer restrictions and the like, but the full MDM offers so much more. Indeed, this is where you can add the account info of the iCloud account you use for Find my..... Configurator won't. The only PITA at the moment is the need to manage Apps and have differing apple iTunes accounts within or attached to, your VPP account. This is supposed to be changing soon, at least in the US first, and then the EU. Hope us CH folks get it then too, as it will save so much of the headache of managing limited app purchases and allocating to specific student devices. Edited May 4, 2015 by jallsop
