Smoothwall + Youtube (Ipads)

Morning all,

 

Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this subject.

 

Filtering comments within YouTube (Using the IPad App or Safari). Can this be done? Has anyone successfully done this?

I believe it can be done under Guardian » Content modification » Content modifications, however I think this needs HTTPS inspection to work

Should be possible to do via Safari - whether the comments are hidden via the YouTube app I am not sure.

I seem to be struggling with sorting this out. I have spoken to Smooth-wall. The response I have had back wasn't very positive.

I'll test ours tomorrow. The comments defiantly aren't shown on our PC's via Chrome and IE. I must admit I haven't tested the iPads. Will let you know.

We can't apply content modifications to the YouTube App unfortunately.

Comment removal works on the mobile site through Safari and Chrome, but you need to have Decrypt and Inspect enabled to apply it (and the Smoothwall's certificate installed as a root CA).

Decrypt and inspect breaks the app because it won't accept the Smoothwall's certificate.

Thanks for this, we have spoken to Smooth wall before about the Decrypt and Inspect. We have this enabled and deployed the CA cert to the Ipad. However, this caused problems for other applications. I presume it was trying to Decrypt and Inspect these too.

 

I have had many phone calls regarding this with smooth-wall, every-time we have never got it to work correctly...

A lot of them don't send Server Name Indication headers either, so we have to do funky stuff™ to work out what the traffic is before we can decide what to do with it.
