What should I be paying for our school Licensing for Veeam Backup for Hyper V and where's the best place to purchase.?

Depends on how many sockets your hyper v hosts have

I paid £380 for veeam backup essentials standard 2 socket bundle.

 

It doesn't matter how many 'used' sockets you have though its how many are in the server itself. (I believe)

We paid per cpu and not per socket

Yeh essentials 2 socket should come well under £500 for one server.

I've just been quoted ~£330 a CPU for Veeam. I'd really like to have it, but unfortunately we're running 8 Hyper-V hosts and it's going to be too expensive to justify.

Was that the essentials version though? really essentials does all you need as a school (as long as you don't need backup acceleration to disparate sites over an internet link, etc)

Veeam Essentials you can only licence up to 6 Sockets though I believe, so 8 Hyper-V hosts won't work unless you split into 2 Veeam installs (if you can do that licencing wise, I don't think you can).

We were quoted £1,458.00 + VAT for the following (so £729.00 per two socket bundle).
