karldenton Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Morning, We have an edge server (running forefront) that controls all mail traffic and points it to the exchange server. During the day between 6am and 6pm it works fine. On a night time there is issues where people can't access there email on phone or via OWA. On the edge server, the event logs says 28/04/2015 19:17:39 DNS Client Events 1014 None "Name resolution for the name xxxxxx.local times out after none of the local DNS Servers responeded. Both our DC's show no warnings at that time. I've turned off energy efficient on the network card but still does it. Might have to stay at work one night to see what happens. Any thoughts ? Thanks
Sagima Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Seems bafling on the surface is it just owa? or does a vpn also fail? do you serve any other web services that carry on working properly as well? If everything else works then my initial thought was that perhaps someone had restricted the time that owa is available either via an isa/tmg/firewall rule or using exchange itself and to ignore the dns event log entry - but it's not the sort of thing that would be accidentally enabled.
bald_pig Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 might be worth setting the dude up to log services on all servers and switches involved?
