How do you set Google chrome as a default browser via GPO?

There are a set of Google Chrome group policies which you can download from Google and install on your server, one of which is to make it take over as the default browser - this won't work until it is run for the first time, however. This is good enough for my needs at the moment.

I had a look at the Chrome policies that I added to group policy but I couldn't find it in them, so either I have some outdated policies or I'm being blind. Do you mind saying where they are located?

For me they seem to show up under Computer Configuration - Policies - Administrative Templates: Policy defnitions (ADMX files) retrieved from the local machine - Google - Google Chrome

Does that help at all?

I've certainly found them quite useful - setting home page, blacklisting some proxy apps, and a couple of other tweaks.

Mine are in:

 

User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > Google > Google Chrome

Okay now I feel like an idiot, I swear it wasn't there a minute ago!

Given that it is a Windows server, it probably wasn't - they do things in unexpected ways, or not at all, or repeatedly. If it is any consolation, it too me seemingly endless messing about to get them installed. Worth it in the end, though :-)
