Windows 8.1 Server Offline

Hi All,

 

For several months now we have been getting a server offline issue at my work with the printers. It happens for no specific reason to staff with any amount of access to the network, and to any printer (Most of the time, to the Follow Me Printer).

 

The only fix on Windows 8.1 is to restart the Laptop. Alternatively, we have made a script that works for about an hour that deletes and re-adds the printer.

For a permanent fix to that specific PC. We re-build them to Windows 7.

 

If anyone has had this before or has any advice, I would be grateful

We too have this issue, from what I gather it's a known issue and despite various so-called 'fixes' we still see it with random users. All the fixes seem to be part of Windows Updates but even after ensuring all have been installed we still see the issue happening now and again.

We have a .bat script that sometimes works. It restarts the print spooler service

 

net stop spooler && net start spooler
