Hi guys,

A bit of a strange one. We have some new E6440s with 256GB SK Hynix SSDs in. I have created an image etc and task sequence for these. But each time I run the task sequence it gets stuck on the "Partition Disk" step. The sequence doesnt fail, it just hangs on "Formatting Volume #". The hard drive light is not lit on the laptop which makes me think its not doing anything.

I have tried a few other drivers and it happens on all of them. I have upgraded the firmware which hasn't resolved anything. I have used diskpart to clean & partition, and it appears that after creating a new partition on the drive it switches the drive off as it cant be found, and then comes back on and works as normally.

Anyone else had this?

I think you'll find the SK Hynix is actually a SSD M4 - I'm having heck of a problem with HP with a 250G7 and SCCM. In fact I cannot get anything at all to boot it - not herons, nothing at all. The windows install (out of the box) corrupted and nothing seems to work..

Is it possible that Windows does not have a driver for this device and the driver needs to be in the boot.wim file?

I've just worked through this machine with HP and verified that the hardware is passing tests okay.
