mikkydoos Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Hi all, Got an issue with printing photos to Sharp copiers using the Windows photo printing wizard. First few lines of the photos print but the rest of the image doesn't. If I go into the driver properties on the client PC, I can set it to 2up, 4up etc and it prints fine - this isn't appropriate for staff and kids though. Copiers are on a Papercut server - I've eliminated this as an issue though. I'm pretty sure (so is the copier engineer) that its a driver problem - am currently using the Sharp generic driver. Anyone else had anything like this at all ?
Tim_at_PaperCut Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi mikkydoos! I wish I had a definite answer for this one, but as you mentioned, it seems like it might be related to the driver in use. I did dig through our ticket history but I don't see any symptoms like this for the Sharp devices - or any devices for that matter : ) What I'd suggest may be something that you've already tried - definitely worth setting up a brand new queue on your print server, and apply the Sharp generic driver, then check to see if that works or not. We've sometimes seen issues where drivers get updated on the current queue, and old settings stay in the registry, ultimately corrupting the driver. So creating a brand new queue will rule that issue out. Next up I would try using either an older (or newer if it exists) version of the Sharp generic driver, to see if that makes a difference. If they supply different 'flavours' of the driver that would be worth a try too - for example try using a Postscript driver instead. Finally it might be worth seeing if there is an 'Advanced Printing Options' checkbox in the driver properties (on the advanced tab normally) and unchecking that, then testing to see if that makes any difference too. Sorry that I don't have more concrete answers for that one!
mikkydoos Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) Its a funny one. Our lasers print via a PaperCut 'Follow-Me' queue on the same server with no issues. Thing is, we've got 3 different models of Sharp copier all with the same driver as we've always used. They're all doing the same but only started like 6 months ago. I can print fine direct from the server but not from the workstations. I'm sure its the driver but difficult to fix because they're always in use Cheers for the reply Tim. MatthewL Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Driver, get rid of the universal one and put a machine specific one, if you have a mix of machines use the one you have more of. Let me know the models of your Sharp and I will link you to the latest version of the drivers.
