I have one staff user who wants to use Google Drive PC App on his laptop. When I download and install the drive app I am asked to sign in but then the app states it is "unable to connect". We use drive.google.com all the time so cant be a port or firewall issue, what is at that is stopping the app from connecting?

Hi There,

I have found here that the Google drive app did not seem to work through our filter using LDAP authentication, could be a similar issue for you?

we find that sometimes it was trying to connect to variety of sub-domains / IPs that were blocked, in the end we just said no and everyone uses the web based version. Is there any particular reason he wants it installed?

Run a packet capture, I'd wager it is a proxy/firewall issue. One thing to point out, you're not stuck with the official tool, there are a couple of others out there - paid, but could be worth it. We've had some luck with InSync where the Google client hasn't worked...

Basically to sync documents from his laptop directly into Google drive.
