LosOjos Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I'm traveling to the USA tomorrow and have some uni work I need to get done, but can't be sure of my connectivity. Would also like to get the bulk done in flight so I can just enjoy myself when I get there! I'm looking for a simple tool to download part of the OU's website for offline viewing (all their course material is online). Any recommendations? I'm currently trying WinHTTrack, but it seems to have gone too deep on the nested links and seems very slow. Also not sure how it's going to handle the OU website as I am required to login to that... I suppose thinking about it logically, some sort of browser plugin is going to be necessary - have access to FF/Chrome/IE. Help!
Steve21 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 You looked at the OU Anywhere app? Pretty sure that could do offline access etc. Not sure if it has everything though, just heard people mention it before Steve 1

LosOjos Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Try httrtack website copier Can't as it is unable to access the OU site behind login (used it for other bits I needed though)
Steve21 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Can't as it is unable to access the OU site behind login (used it for other bits I needed though) Probably not as most stop it, but take it you can't use the user:[email protected] etc style in it? Done that before for some sites, but guessing it's probably blocked nowadays. Steve
6Foot2 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I remember using a product ages ago called Webwhacker. I went looking for it and found this: Link: Download WebWhacker Education Edition Free It might do the job? It is a LONG time since I last used it and so I am not familiar with this version but as I recall it was a good product back then. 1
LosOjos Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Well I found an excellent Firefox add-on for this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/scrapbook/ Works behind login as it can use my session login to access the content. Win!
LosOjos Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 I'm going America tomorrow! What time you flying? About 12 from Manchester to Orlando - how about you?
Joanne Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Ah I'm 6am Manchester - Frankfurt - Boston Orlando sounds warmer!
LosOjos Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Ah I'm 6am Manchester - Frankfurt - Boston Orlando sounds warmer! Apparently overcast but warm - I can live with that. Taking little one to Disney World - she's super excited, I'm kind of stressed at the thought lol
ChrisH Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I went to Australia while studying with the OU and I just went through the module material and clicked on the button to show all the pages on one screen and turned them into PDFs. That got me 99% of what I needed.
