strange permissions issue on R2 shared folder

Recommended Posts

I have problem on a shared folder where invidual users can have write access but user who have write permission via a group get an "access denied" error when populating the folder.

Share permissions are set to Evryone full so I don't think that's the problem. The folder is on R2 file server but was originally on a 2003 SP2 server. Permissions restored from backup but some groups not recognised in security dialog box. I suspect it might be mail enabled groups which have the problem on the new server.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It's not mail enabled groups but domain local groups that appear to be the problem. They won't show up in the add member to group dialog. Global groups mail enabled or not do show up.

Why is this happening? Is there something in the R2 setup I missed?

Folder permissions and share permissions are not conflicting are they?

I don't think so. The share permissions are everyone full. There is no problem if I want to give global group write access.
