Ralph1337 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 This is where i'm at with Meraki: I have set up a VPP account. I've configured a profile, I've added onto the devices to pick up the profile. I can push and pull apps / lock device which is great send notifications via . But it asks for a password (on the device) when pushing out apps onto the device. (is this supposed to happen or can this be configured otherwise?) I digress; I've gone to enroll in DEP via. https://deploy.apple.com/ I sign in and there's no option to actually enrol in the DEP program. Is this due to me signing in on my VPP account? also, I am confused about how the accounts actually link up? This whole thing is a right kerfuffle!
jonnykewell1 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I think this is one of the reasons wifi and device configurations need to be done in DEP or Apple configurator. Then the apps side can be done through Meraki. The password prompt comes up and I believe users can even delete the Meraki profile?
Ralph1337 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 You can set a password to remove a custom profile.. But I'm just assuming that it would be an elevated profile to that of merakis' default?... or you can remove both or only the custom? But I am assuming, which is something you shouldn't do.. haha.

This whole thing is a right kerfuffle! iPad users requesting the Apple ID for any apps has really nothing to do with whether you are enrolled in DEP you need to use Managed Distribution and silent installation with your Meraki MDM, link below to show how... https://meraki.cisco.com/blog/2014/04/be-a-ninja-systems-manager-silent-app-push/ 1
tkb Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I would email this quote back to them, this comes from the DEP guide on the web site and has been done already by myself with schools with previously purchased devices from other resellers not Apple though... Step 3: Assign devices. You can assign devices to your virtual MDM servers by order number or by serial number. Only eligible devices will be available for assignment to your MDM server on the program website. You can search for orders you placed directly with Apple after March 1, 2011, by order or by serial number. If you’ve placed orders from a participating Apple Authorized Reseller, your look-back period will be at the discretion of the reseller. Within 24 hours after the reseller successfully posts your order to the DEP program. Hi - just bumping this up with reference to the above - has anyone had any success adding 'previous purchases' to DEP? Up until Aug last year we were purchasing directly from the Apple online store (using a single account and customer number), since then we have had a business account set up and order directly via the sales team. We are able to add any devices purchased since last Aug to DEP, but have been told there is no way to get the majority of our devices registered as; "Prior purchases, and purchases directly form store.apple.com/au, unfortunately, are not tied to a customer number that DEP understands. We can traced back to Mar 2011, if you had a term account with us prior to DEP, and purchased via that term account, as this would have tied your purchases to the valid customer number DEP understands." I work for a NFP and have just signed up with AirWatch - DEP seemed like a dream come true for getting devices into supervised mode, until the reality that most of our devices would not be eligible hit If anyone has had success getting previously purchased devices enrolled into DEP, would you be able to share how this was achieved? Thanks
