GTX Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Our main server deals with our VPN. My problem is if the main server goes down (only one in the building). I have no way on the network to use the IPMI remotely. My plan is to get a hardware VPN but im a little confused when they call it "firewall VPN" Will something like this do the trick? Billion BiGuard 10 iBusiness Security Gateway Small-office | eBay Or Netgear FVS114NA NETGEAR FVS114 ProSafe VPN Firewall 8 W/ 4-Port 10/100 Mbps | eBay Thanks in advance
RobD Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 A friend who has a small business uses a Draytek Vigor 2820Vn Router Firewall as a router/VPN which are pretty cheap and reliable. 1
MatthewL Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 What router do you have on site as you may already have the kit, might just need configuring. 1
GTX Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 We have a Draytek Vigor 2860. Tried to setup the VPN on there. No luck :/ Any one got a noobs guide?
VeryPC_Ed Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-vigor-ssl?highlight=WyJ2cG4iXQ==&return=1921959 You need to register for the draytek site but that guide should help if you are using an SSL VPN / Draytek smartclient. Thanks, Ed 1
GTX Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Cheers Ed, Thank looks like it might do the trick. Rick
VeryPC_Ed Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Cheers Ed, Thank looks like it might do the trick. Rick No worries, we sell Draytek from time to time and I have had to set-up a 2850 a while back for one of our support customer for same reason Thanks, Ed
RobD Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I think they're great (use one at home instead of a BT router), their support is very good too. May be worth updating the firmware if you havnt already?
MatthewL Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 There was a thread giving away Draytek's ideal for this?
