Incompatible Printer drivers for HP1606dn - is there a workaround for server 2012

In migrating our print server I have found that the printer HP1606dn printer does not have compatible drivers for server 2012.

We have a number on site so I have tried a number of workarounds to include the PCL6 universal driver and server 2008 x64 driver no no avail

I have raised a ticket with HP but don't hold much hope there!

Is there any other workaround people could suggest to get the HP LJ1606dn to work with server 2012

I got it to work using the Windows 8.1 drivers from HP, here is a link http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL32433/bi-83409-4/LJP1100_P1560_P1600-HB-win64-en.exe

Thanks that seemed to work however I am getting an error on the application logs.

Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 1341424. Number of bytes printed: 1341424. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 0. The operation completed successfully.

 

The driver type is not set - ie is not set as Type 3/4 user mode. If I am right, the driver is not working in isolation mode?
