Director of Accommodation Services - Manchester

 

Salary £27,000 - £32,000

37 ½ hours (Full Time)

33 days (including Bank holidays), Pension

 

A Manchester-based independent sixth form college with approximately 130 international students from 25 countries requires a full-time Director of Accommodation Services with an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse needs of international students and the challenges they face coupled with a dedication to student welfare and pastoral care.

 

Ideally you would have worked in a similar capacity (Accommodation Manager, Hall Manager, Property Manager, Resident Manager, House Master or Mistress, Boarding Master or Mistress) with young people within an educational context and have knowledge and experience of record keeping, data protection issues and the National Minimum Standard regulations.

 

You will also have strong management, leadership, communication and presentation skills and the ability to relate to a small college ethos.

 

 

The role itself, is rewarding, often challenging and always varied with many duties incorporating the management and responsibility for the day to day running of all accommodation (home stay, student residence or independent living) and being aware of, and responding to the special needs of individual students.

 

You will strive for ‘Outstanding’ in any boarding inspections carried out by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and keep abreast of statutory regulations and current boarding good practice, plus line-managing the accommodation staff, managing the students, monitoring their attendance, arranging student activities and over-seeing disciplinary procedures.

 

Other duties will include :

 

Researching and managing the process of selecting potential new home stay families, including sending out the preliminary information forms, house visits, preparation of questions, taking of photographs and follow-up letters, etc.

 

Designing and preparing the accommodation packs.

 

Designing and compiling the Independent Living Student Charter, to incorporate best practice and any legal requirements, before sending to all students who have applied to the college.

 

Managing the schedule for regular visits to the flats of independent living students throughout the academic year (including a visit at the start of the autumn term to ensure the premises are suitable).
