bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Mornin' all, I've just got one of these printers and for the life of me I can't get it setup as a network printer from our W2008 R2 server. I have configured the IP etc all ok and I can hook up to it fine from my W7 32bit PC but getting it installed and working on the server is not working. The only available driver is for Server 2008 64bit and this doesn't work. When visiting the HP site on the server itself, it detects the OS as being W7 64bit! Anyway, I have tried both the 2008 and w7 64bit drivers and neither work. Anyone got any other ideas other than to just have it installed locally? Cheers
Grey-gear Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 If the drivers from the disc are not working you could download the least drives from the HP website 1
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 If the drivers from the disc are not working you could download the least drives from the HP website Done that. Downloaded the basic ones too without all the additional bits and they're not working either.
Grey-gear Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Does the 32bit drivers work? Or does HP do generic drivers that could be used?
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Does the 32bit drivers work? Or does HP do generic drivers that could be used? 32 bit don't I haven't looked at the generic driver option but will do now!
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Right, installing the HP uni driver PCL 6 allows me to install the printer but when I print a test page it just spurts out 6 pages of rubbish. The PCL 5 driver also lets me install the printer but that on spurts out one page of rubbish. Closer but still no sign of the cigar yet!
Grey-gear Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Is there a similar printer on the network (an older colour printer) you could try using those drivers
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Is there a similar printer on the network (an older colour printer) you could try using those drivers Just been trying that but no joy. I'll have a look at similar models on the HP site and try the drivers off those.
Grey-gear Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Sorry been no help so far, the last thing I canthink of is trying the win 8 drivers and seeing if that works sorry that I can't think of more
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 This may be my friend! Setting Up the Printer on Windows Server 2003, 2008, or 2012 for HP Officejet Printers
bodminman Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 No joy with that either. On the server I can now get it to print by adding a new printer and choosing the Windows Update option and selecting a HP Deskjet 990c printer. However, I need the win 7 32bit version of the driver to get the printer distributer to the clients! Anyone got any ideas as HP themselves don't appear to have any! Cheers
