In an effort to improve experiences for students, slow logon times, wifi speeds, corrupt accounts... it has been suggested that we ditch roaming profiles for all users. Has anyone done this on RM CC4? What are the repercussions of doing away with roaming profiles? Some have suggested that roaming profiles are a bit outdated now as most stuff is done online. I don't want to go off on a tangent.

Is it easy enough to do on CC4? It would be good to test with some accounts first.

First simple way to reduce corrupt profiles.... reset a user and then change the NTUser.Dat to NTUser.man.... no more corruption and CC4 will still function.

With CC4 I don't think you'll ever really do much about wifi speeds/slow logons without major changes to policies to restrict what is pulled down and run at logon (as don't forget start menu's are generated for users at every logon)

I was having so many profile issues with the kids on our laptops. We are mostly laptops, 500 of the things.

In the end I completely removed any profiles from stunners, no roaming, no mandatory, no nothing.

Everything is redirected, home drive etc so no real point having them.

Been 2 years now never looked back.

Yep the first logon onto the device is slightly slower. But the next login onto the same device is lightening.

I have a scheduled task with delprof2 to delete the local profiles, that get created, over two weeks old.
