halbaradkenafin Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 It was mostly a discussion of the mechanics of it, as there are many corps who won't/can't fight back and that's one of their only options (other than disband or hide in station a lot).
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Just trying to figure out why they wardec'd us. It's possible it is 'for teh lulz' as much as it might be 'hope they surrender and we gain profit'. I certainly don't plan on surrendering, at any rate. Check Jeremy's mail later, anyhow. There might be an extortion mail or something. And rename the hangars whilst you're at it! xP
LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hangars are renamed and have been for a while... I'll check the mail now through the forums.
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 (edited) Yes, but the Frigates hanger isn't just for Frigates.. And our Blueprints hangar contains some.. interesting fluff items lol. Could do with getting some cans (or whatever they're called) to organise stuff soon, mostly just for ammo and equipment. LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Yeah we could. Though honestly with the rate that we're filling things and the limits of cans we might be better off footing the extra 6m p/m and purchase another office. I'm holding out on any further organization since we /should/ be moving out next month anyway to go and attempt nullsec life. That is of course if we can make 19billion for the station (and have someone with the skills to anchor it)... but I'm sure with diligence we shall do it.
halbaradkenafin Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Yes, but the Frigates hanger isn't just for Frigates.. And our Blueprints hangar contains some.. interesting fluff items lol. Could do with getting some cans (or whatever they're called) to organise stuff soon, mostly just for ammo and equipment. I'll try to sort some cans or containers later today, do we want to do something like a can for each size of ammo (s/m/l) or type of ammo (crystal/hybrid/projectile/missile/misc)? I'm also considering setting up a few PI planets, just need to get my spreadsheet working reasonably well so that I can work out what's best to make. Should let me generate a little bit of "passive" income to help top up the mission running I do.
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 (edited) 'ang on, 19 billion for a station? That's a lot of tax dollars ISK to raise. I've started dumping 50% of what I mine as Tarquin into the hangars, so far in about 2 hours mining I'd say I've probably raised the corp the 6mil* in ores we need to cover the station, which isn't bad.. 4 hours solo mining gets us breaking even on a month of operation (if we sell off the ores rather than reprocessing them and building stuff..) It might be worth trying to organise a mass-mine to get us some money in, since there's a few of us now that can haul. I have 50,000m3 in my Gallente Industrial ship of which I forget the name, then there's Hal with an Orca, and I think Chip said he can haul, too. And Jeremy. Between a decent chunk of the corp members, we could mine a belt dry in two hours and earn some good ISK. And we've got plenty of Ventures to spare for our non-mining members. * That's 6 mil given to the corp, not 6 mil mined overall. Edited September 28, 2015 by Garacesh
halbaradkenafin Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 But to anchor a station we'd need sov, which requires a bunch more spending on other sov structures and I think you need to have had sov for a while before you can get a station. It's a system I haven't looked at because I'd never really imagined trying to manage it. We could move into a NPC null sec to start with and base out of an NPC station, then move on from there once people are used to living in null and get some skills at PVP. Or we could just get a POS and live out of that in null and see how things go, but we'd need to fuel that and to do that reliably we'd need either a cloaky hauler or a jump freighter.
LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 @halbaradkenafin - Blockade Runner. Also, we'd be starting with a POS which is extremely cheap. like 300m (which is chicken poop money... if I sold all my assets I could almost buy a station, if I sold all my investments, I could probably get two )
Arreks Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 POS or null station would certainly be easier, I've done no research on the new sov mechanics so idk how complex it is now to anchor..
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Probably best to start with a nullsec npc station, I'd imagine. Gets us out into the wild expanse (or the Great Wildlands, perhaps? ) and used to nullsec living, gives us access to the nullsec resources, but allows us to save up just a bit longer? Might be worth taking out a few poop ships, a Probe or two, hunting between NPC stations to see if we can find some Minmatar Republic Fleet agents
halbaradkenafin Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Might be worth taking out a few poop ships, a Probe or two, hunting between NPC stations to see if we can find some Minmatar Republic Fleet agents I don't think there are many empire faction agents in null, it's mostly pirate faction agents. You can mission for them though if you really want to but you're generally better off running anoms or belt ratting unless you can get to level 4 missions, and then it's the LP that makes the isk.
LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 The problem is, through my exploration of the Great Wildlands. The reason there is no sov over them is BECAUSE they don't have NPC stations. Which really raises an issue. :/
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Hm. True. I did notice a lack of them as we were floating through.. On an unrelated note, I've just been typing a serial key in, and in my head have been going ABC12[tec]89XYZ[tec]... Too much EVE.
halbaradkenafin Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Map: Great Wildlands - DOTLAN :: EveMaps Shows that it's basically all owned by Thukker Tribe (NPCs) but oddly only has 3 station systems and they are all next to each other. If we did move there then we should be able to find a quiet area and set up a POS easy enough, lots of potential systems clumped up, just need to find one which doesn't have many people using it. If I get some time soon I'll go for a wander through there in a cov ops looking for quiet systems and have a wander round the moons to find any POS that might there (and make a few bounces etc on gates).
LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 To be fair, I do find it easier to say tec than dash now a days.
Garacesh Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 The immeditate 'best' one that springs to mind would be M-MD3B. Refining, Industry, Research, Med bay, and an ice belt. But that system is probably going to be hot with customers for all the same reasons we'd want to live there.
LiamHaith Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 We certainly can't be looking at Hot systems. We don't have the expertise, skill points or manpower to defend against anyone who would want us OUT of null. Unless you felt it was time that we began an alliance with neighbours in an attempt to become something bigger... but I'm not sure I want to hit GSF syndrome again.
LiamH Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 You could use dotlan to find underused systems, just sort by jump/kills/npc kills ecta and find a cluster that is quiet. I wouldn't risk a station egg as a 22 player corp, somebody would come and flip it within days. You could live in NPC null, you will get a lot of docking games when the station is camped, but with the new NPC jump clone changes you could jump clone between a group of stations. And its Tack ffs not tec
Garacesh Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 And its Tack ffs not tec Still doesn't make any sense.
halbaradkenafin Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Still doesn't make any sense. Americans and their military lingo spreading through the world.
Garacesh Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 I stand by my previous statement ^_^ I mean, I guess it 'tacks' characters together, but I'm fairly certain you could still refer to "SYS-03" as "Ess-Why-Ess-Oh-Three" instead of "Ess-Why-Ess-Tack-Oh-Three" and people would still know what you meant.
LiamH Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Its US airforce/navy phonetic alphabet stuff, i think NATO uses "dash" Most FC's will just say the first 3 letters, like "align NOL" but when setting destination if you said "NOLM9" that's not a valid system so it would be "NOL Tack M9". And tbh tack is a lot easier to slip into fast comms than dash is. It also helps with things like intel, if you are scouting and call a enemy gang in "CCP" it could be confusing and the FC might not know where that is, calling it in "CCP tack US" makes it obvious its a system and the fc can look it up if he doesn't know the area. Got to remember being a FC is like herding cats.
LiamHaith Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Being an FC is easy. Hey guys, I'm your leader, do as I say or you'll be treated as hostile. Fly here, Shoot this, you died? reship. You didn't shoot? Wellp, looks like you're dead too! Thanks for coming fellas.
halbaradkenafin Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 My launcher has decided that it doesn't want to connect, exefile won't connect, beta launcher connects but won't actually let me play. Going to redownload the whole client and see what happens. Might be a day or two before I'm back online @LiamHaith and @Garacesh
