MrZippy Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Hello, I'm hoping WebMan or someone else can assist. I'm replacing a very old and poorly-functioning classroom / resource booking system with Webman's ClassroomBookings (from http://www.classroombookings.com). I've installed it on a Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS, with the LAMP defaults. I got it installed, and after some trial and error, got the initial page working. Now, when I try and do the school information, whether or not I add a logo or not.. when I hit save, I get a blank screen saying "Unable to create an image". I've played around with the security, and temporarily given 7777 access to the ClassroomBookings directory (recursively), but to no avail. Can anyone assist? I'm kinda stumped, don't know where to look.
webman Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Hi MrZippy! Thanks for checking out Classroombookings I think I have helped someone else with a similar problem before, so please allow me to copy and paste the response which worked for them: The "Unable to create image" message comes from the library that actually makes the gradient effect image for the header. This relies on PHP's GD (graphics) library. As you're receiving the error, it's likely that the GD module is not installed or enabled. The steps taken to get it working usually involves installing it via the package manager (e.g. apt-get install php5-gd on Debian/Ubuntu, or other similar package names). That should usually enable it as well, but the web server will/may need restarting after any configuration changes have been made. Hope that helps
MrZippy Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) Webman, Next time one of us is in the other's neighbourhood, I owe you a beer. That worked for the logo bit. Now another couple of questions: 1) Is there a way for teachers to put in recurring bookings themselves? I can see as admin I can.. but I'd like the teachers to put in their own recurring ones as they need to. Doable? 2) When Looking at the Bookings Page.. can I show more than one day? Say.. could it show the schoolweek (scrolling down), starting with the current day? 3) Any way to allow for self-registration? Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! webman Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I'm glad that worked! I'd love to visit Canada some time, so thanks for that offer - you never know I may accept it! To your questions - the short answers: 1) No 2) Yes: there are two display modes to choose from - room or day. If you choose room, it will display that room for the whole week. This is in School Details > Settings > Bookings display type. 3) No Items 1) and 3) will be in the next version - but the timescale for that release/completion is still very much open-ended I'm afraid!
MrZippy Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Ok, good enough. Just means I need a superteacher I can trust Final Question: I want to change the colours slightly on the bookings page. I find the pink / whatever a bit harsh. In taking a quick look.. am I correct that the only place I have to edit is the style.css found in /webroot folder?
MrZippy Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Looks like i answered my own question via experimentation. I was able to edit the colours for timetabled lesson via the style.css file. Thanks for the help.. and I will be watching for v2! Cheers
MrZippy Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Ok. So I lied. Found a bug. When viewing by Room, it will show the week.. great. But if there's a holiday in ANY DAY that week... it blocks out the whole week. That's fine for Spring Break and all.. but for days like Victoria Day (May 18 this year) or Easter Monday, it prevents the whole week from being booked. Tells me "The Date you selected is during a holiday period" along with the holiday description. Sooo... I'd like to keep the rooms view, but how can I see the remaining days of the week that aren't holidays?
webman Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Oh no! It should allow that type of configuration.. but if it isn't then that does sound like a bug. Could you send me a copy of your database to craig (at) classroombookings.com please? I'll be able to reproduce the problem, see what the cause is and hopefully figure out a fix!
MrZippy Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 On its way webman. I .zipped the whole website folder. Let me know if I need to send it a different way. Cheers
webman Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Received, thanks! Will have a look and get back to you
