Hello,

We weill be replacing laptops soon and are considering VeryPC. I've already spoken to VeryPC_Ed about some but I'd like opinions on how they perform and last in schools. Worth buying or not?

The laptops themselves are generic Clevo jobs, the same you'd get from Ergo, Stone or Novatech, etc. (Classmates are Intel, and the same ones Stone do). That said, our teachers and pupils love the special school branded lids they do.

As for Very_PC themselves, we've used them on and off for a couple of years now. Laptops, servers, and desktops for IT suites. One of the easiest companies to work with for the rare warranty repair we've had.

Highly recommended (unless my commission cheque bounces then go for Novatech instead ;))

EDIT:

We've got the about 20 classmates in total and they are OK/Good for light word processing and internet work. Seem to be pretty durable for kids to use. We use them for SEN.

As for laptops in general. Last lot we got were Baytrail Celerons, Quad-core, 8Gb ram, 120Gb SSD. They run like the clappers - fastest machines we've got. Easily beat out some of our i3 desktops. We've not given any to students, only staff. Oldest are about 2 years old now and we have some 3year old Novatechs as well.

I cannot praise VeryPC enough... My account manager Tom Burkinshaw is quality... When I wanted a laptop in a hurry he took it upon himself to go down to the production team to help out to get my laptop built in time. To me that speaks volumes about the quality of the company... they never harass you on the phone either... just there when you want them... Yes I know the thinkbooks are rebranded clevo units which other people can ship however I find they offer the best price anyway... I currently have 40ish laptops and 40ish FlexPC's and so far haven't had any issues other than one which a student smashed as the little darlings occasionally do... Laptop was repaired with speed and grace and back into service very quickly... Performance of the machines are amazing, by far the fastest laptops in school. I have always been an HP man in the past but I cannot beat the pricing and flexibility of a custom built laptop. With the price of their hardware and the amazing service they provide I'm hopefully looking at a long term relationship with them...

We had Andy out from verypc to demo some hardware recently and I was very impressed with their thinbooks! Really customisable and seemed like solid bits of kit. Think we will be ordering some in the near future.
