Office 365 ADFS setup problems

Hi there,

 

I am having some problems setting up ADFS and SSO on office 356. so far I've:

Installed ADFS on the server and configured it.

Installed SSL certificate and other components

I can access the ADFS locally on the sever and log in.

 

When I try and configure the powershell commands to connect office 365 to ADFS it goes wrong.

Our current setup is that the ADFS server is "LocalADFSServer.InternalDomain" For the internet I have "InternetADFSServerName.ExternalDomain". This is set up in our public DNS and locally. So basically I'm trying to use a different server name for the ADFS configuration than the server is physically called. SSL certificate matches the external domain name.

 

When I follow the instructions https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205461.aspx, when it comes to the command Set-MsolAdfscontext -Computer , it always fails.

If I use the external name which is what I expect to use so Office 365 can find the server it connects and I am repeatedly prompted to login to the local server, though nothing works and it eventually fails with invalid credentials. If I use the Local FQDN then it much quickly errors out saying it can't connect to the server.

Any help about where I go would be apprciated
