I have 3 school sites I maintain with Dreamweaver 8. Two give me no problem but one site keeps failing to find the target, showing an FTP error ('remote host cannot be found').

I put exactly the same details into FreeFTP, a cheap (FREE) and cheerful up and downloader and bingo! I'm connected.

Is there anyone out there who can suggest a solution? FreeFTP is a but tedious compared with Dreamweaver, and I want this problem sorted.

Yes. Passive FTP does nothing. I've checked the Firewall button options, and the Use Secure FTP Settings. None of the options affect the connectivity. It's quite bizarre.

Secure ftp usually means sftp ie -an *nix ssh server not a traditional ftp server. try turning off secure.
