Bluetooth/wifi microphone and speaker

Hi,

I'm trying to find some sort of weather proof microphone and indoor speaker that runs on batteries.

The problem is we don't have a cat flap and one is not an option so my idea was to install a microphone at the back door that ran ona battery and a speaker inside the house that could run on the mains, as we can't hear the cats if they come home and want to come in.....it's mostly for the evenings when we let them out for their last bit of fresh air before bed time. It would have to be a Bluetooth arrangement as drilling the new conservatory doors and windows to run wires is also not an option.

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to if there is any such thing on the market as I have spent many hours surfing the web and as yet come up with nothing. I know you guys may laugh but to my wife these are her babies and it's not a laughing matter..... Many thanks.

I don't know of something exactly like that. But most home monitoring things will detect sound and motion and then notify you usually via an app. For example - WiFi Home Sensors: Spotter- Postscapes

 

I've never used them to cannot say how good they are. But if you are never far away from your phones it may be ideal?

 

Does it have to be placed outside? Ff you attach it to the inside of the door they meow at it should pick them up.
