jlucas Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Hi, does anyone have a step by step guide to migrating SIMS to a new server? I'm attempting to move from Server2008/SQL2008 to Server2012/SQL2014. I've built the server, installed SQL 2014 and attempted to move Solus3 using the guide Capita gave me. The database, deployment Ui etc are now on the new server and all the clients are telling me they are re-directed from the old server. However, I cannot install the Solus client on the new server. It is sitting there saying install queued, and has done since last night. SupportNet currently gives me 404 when I try and log in and I haven't got time to be sitting in a queue waiting for support to answer to phone. Can any point me in the right direction? Thanks James
DavetheITguy Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I did this in Summer 2014, moved it virtual. I already had background knowledge of this but I would recommend getting either capita or your LEA (if you are a school) to help. It's not as easy as copying the database over, there's lots of stuff to configure and if you get it wrong it's a pain to sort. I had help from my LEA and we did it step by step. Hope this helps. jlucas Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 After lots of back and forth with Capita (and a couple of remote sessions), we managed to get everything moved to a new server! As @DavetheITguy said there is a lot to configure and the Capita self help documents don't cover everything. I'm still not sure Solus3 is exactly right, looks like its stil pointing at the old server for the Sims databases but I can sort that later on. The main thing is Sims is working!
pauldredge Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Its not that hard once you know how and Capita do publish a tech article on how to migrate your sims to a new server.
