haldarulon Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Guys I do not appear to be having much luck with my setup at the moment! After buying the R9 290 about a month ago the card now does the following: get really loud when playing games (acceptable because the PC is in another room to my TV) although it is loud! then after playing ANY graphic hungry game after about 20 mins (avg, sometimes longer) the screen goes black, yet I can still hear whats going on and if connected to a chat can still chat, so I know the machine has not locked out or shutdown, any ideas before I get in touch with Dabs, as the serial number is not recognized when I type it in the returns portal on ASUS. Achandler Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Your card is probably overheating, the R290 run excessively hot and if there is no air around them or any airflow then they will overheat. I have a R290, awesome card but bloody loud fans (mine i a stock) and it runs really hot, the heat coming off it is the hottest i've ever felt from a PC.
ZeroHour Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Next time your gaming leave HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID (free) running the background and it should give you an idea.
JLambert97 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It's probably overheating as stated above but if the screen is going black It could be a driver issue, I recently re installed windows on my machine after purchasing a new HDD and now I occasionaly get a black screen, fixed it by re installing the driver for the card.
haldarulon Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 guys, I removed old driver and anything remotely to do with the graphics card, went to Asus website and download those drivers, installed a piece of software called teakui (supplied with card) and I played for hours...didn't really get that noisy either! Adjust it so the fan ran a bit faster even at a slower speed thanks for the input, any change and I will let you know!
