Recommended Android devices for scanning barcodes/qcodes

For scanning barcodes/Qcodes for our asset management system.

 

I reckon a 7" tablet is too big, and a smartphone too small.

 

Any ideas? Must be cheap-ish.

A OnePlus One is cheap-ish and has a 5.5" 1080x1920 screen.

So you're after some kind of device bigger than a traditional phone but smaller than a traditional tablet... hmm... if only someone had invented something to fill that niche...

 

If you're just after something cheap that will only be used for this purpose (but is a 7" tablet) how about something like this - 7" Touch-Screen,Android 4.4 (KitKat), Dual Core, 1GB, 8GB | PMT3377_WI_C
