Best configuration fo rthese inherited servers.

I have inherited 2 servers at a school i now visit. The servers were ordered by a very inexperienced teacher/it person. I have checked the config and i am worrried about the lack of redundancy. The servers are configure d on one big raid with no hotspare. Two drived C & D. I want to rebuild these but am usnure as to what will be th ebest config.

 

This is the spec below of how th eoriginal servers were ordered in.

 

2 x Xeon 5050 3.0Ghz/2x2mb 667FSB

4GB 533 Ram( 4 x 1GB DIMMs )

4 x 160GB SATA HDD ( Originally configured into a Raid 10 )

DVD-Rom

Perc 5i Card

What are you planning to use them for?

Posibble,

 

Sophos, WSUS, Exchange 2007, Print Server etc

 

or possible file server or back up server.
