I have been made aware of games being on the network and when a RANDOMLY selected student was checked he had 158 games, can anyone advise what methods can be used to track down all the files and remove them but also alert me when they are saved on the network again.

Random searches/monitoring with TreeSize Pro and ABTutor in terms of detection. In terms of prevention, GPO's set to only allow exe's and the like to be run from specific drives/network paths that pupils don't have write access to. When we rebuild out file server we'll also use FSRM to stop exe's and the like from areas like pupils home drives or USB sticks.

If you have windows file servers look under file server settings for file screening. can either be set to block or allow and alert. So when they save exe's, flash files etc in their area it will email you and then you can take a look. As for anything currently on your servers just do a directory search for exes and remove anything there and then file screening will pick up anything after that.
