I'm not sure whether I'm asking for the moon on a stick with this spec, but hopefully one of you can point me in the direction I need:-

  • I'm after an all-in-one device
  • Needs to be Wi-Fi
  • Preferable duplex-scanning
  • Needs to have scan to SMB capability (rather that scan to software installed on a PC)
  • Above all, it needs to be cheap to buy and cheap to run

I know this sounds like I want high-spec at low cost - that's exactly what I need.

Can anyone suggest anything suitable?

Cheers

I bought one of these:

HP LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw Colour Multifunction Printer

Its not particularly cheap which I know you really want but I was sick of inkjets and wanted similar features you do. It scans to a UNC share and works well with android and iOS devices too.

Cost per page isnt the cheapest but unless you are doing tons all the time it hopefully wont be too off putting and inkjet gets expensive if the cartridges dry out before being used.

A4 or A3?

If you are after something desktop based the Sharp MX-C301W would be a recommendation, if you are after something A3 based you would then be looking at a Sharp MX-2640N.

Where can you buy them from? the first one's price seems to be about $1000 on initial search.

I agree with the HP choice and the most cost effective way of running the supplies is via their HP Supplies programme.

This contract is with HP Directly via a reseller (I used Kanbaneos.com)

You get the original supplies 50% cheaper and a support contract if you commit to a small term with HP

Cost were coming out at 0.25pence for mono and 2.7 pence for full colour on the HP 276 device
