Promethean ActivBoard locking up.

We have just recently installed 10 new Promethean Boards some being run of laptops , some off PC's. The ones running of PC's are fine, but the ones running off laptops like to just lock up now and again (different age and different model laptops). Only way to get it to work is to unplug the USB cable from the laptop and plug it back in again. Anybody else had this problem?

Speak to the support at Promethean - I find them very helpful.

I must admit that generally the laptops don't really like USB connections!

I had this problem a while back.

 

I think it had something to do with the laptop either going into standby or the screen saver coming on and the board on the USB didn't seem to wake up.

 

Not the best idea to have a laptop go into standby when teaching. But if a laptop is not plugged in i think the default is to screen save quite quickly.

This is happening while the teachers are using the boards.

We are having the same problem with a couple of boards. Not found a solution yet, but it does seem to reset itself if you power down the board itself.

 

Also make sure you have upgraded to the latest versions of the drivers and software.

 

Version 3 is out BTW and is a free upgrade from version 2!
