Uplift Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Hi guys, I am wondering what education curriculum based software suite schools are using these days? We have been using the 2Simple collection for a long time now,it's rather dated but works well for our younger children. However it is littered with bugs and not very good for older KS2 children. I like 2Simple because it covers core subjects so may look at Purple Mash which has thousands of activities... Is there anything similar that schools can buy in that covers the whole spectrum and is easy to use and suitable for all ages of primary school... We don't really have a strong software strategy or budget planning, we have basically just lived off what 2Simple has given us.. I want to focus on improving the software in school, but must admit: I don't know where to start. What are the 2Simple alternatives? or is Purple Mash the best shout? Basically just need some core software that can cover most lessons. Many thanks
abillybob Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 There's a lot of good free software out there. In fact we don't buy into anything really just yet that gives us a software package. We're a primary school so KS1 & KS2. for us and we use things like Scratch, Windows Movie Maker, iPhoto all those kind of applications really (don't want to bore you by naming them all) A lot of the stuff we do is on the internet and flash games play a huge part in educating the children, our iPads also have a lot of free (and some paid) apps on them which the children really love. I could send you our list if you'd like? We use Sherston as well which when bought was a one time fee (not to sure though now). But the kids seems to love that!

I am the 'IT Guy' and therefore not really curriculum based, but i'm the one they badger when software isn't working properly... a lot of it is down to bugs in the old 2Simple collection and can't be fixed so I have decided enough is enough, i would love to replace it.

Yeah this puts me off, it's just another thing added to the ever-growing list of stuff that is subscription based. Paying a fortune for something we never actually own annoys me, everything will be paid this way soon.

What school tier is that for? We would be classed as a large school so looking at £750 for one year.. a significant discount over several years makes it much more attractive.
Joanne Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 We have 320ish kids... I think it was £600 per year for us. When you contact them, tell them you saw it at BETT and liked the look of it. You get 6 years for the price of 5 then I am looking to see if there are alternatives... currently cannot find one!
