Just thought I'd share this little nugget of humility (or is that humiliation) as the penny just dropped.

The problem I was having was a VPN LAN to LAN connection kept dropping between my workshop remote site and the unit at home. I had the Keep Alive option setup on the dial-out profile so I couldn't figure out what was going wrong until I realised that the target IP address might be important.

Until my light bulb moment I had pointed the ping target at a Google DNS server but now the IP is an internal IP address on the target network and surprise surprise the connection stays active and rarely drops at all.

Feel free to pour scorn on such a basic n00b error but figured I'd share this horrific admission in case there are others of similar challenged nature
