Cache Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 So, in just under a week of the trial, I'm really liking Papercut NG, still having some teething troubles with aspects, but want to push on anyway. Next thing I want to do is start prompting for a print confirmation for Students. Now at the moment I can do this, thats fine but I'm thinking more down the line should we continue. Is there a way that I can have either members of a group be set to charge to personal account but prompt or can I some how schedule a bulk user action to apply the settings to the users after the synchronisation has run? I can see you can call scripts to do various thigns but can't work out if it's possible to automate something like bulk user actions?
MatthewL Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 If you want to chase something en-mass for a group of users the bulk action tool is your best bet. What are you after doing?
benjie Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Papercut is great! We have only had it since september but it is fantastic and incredibly powerful. What exactly are you wanting to do in bulk? Give them an initial ballance? Top up their balance (Every time or to a set limit)? Or something else? 1
MatthewL Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Your best bet is to set the initial settings via group before importing users but once users are in and you are working bulk action is best way. 1

You answered the question with that point which I'd missed the tick box for. I wanted to configure it so that Students, when added to PaperCut, would be configured to Charge to personal account with popup but thought I would need to keep remembering to go and adjust users each time I added a new one. Configuring the group defaults will sort this, thanks!
MatthewL Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Obviously doing the defaults will only apply to new users as they are created and sync'd with PaperCut. You can apply bulk changes based on group too which is handy. They way I setup PaperCut is link the group to Active Directory and manage users there and then link them to the accounts as and when needed. Works a treat.
Big_Ted Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Have you looked at server commands (and how to schedule them) and new user settings?
Cache Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Yeah that's where I was looking to do but couldn't see how to filter it to apply to a group. Setting the defaults on the Students group will do what I'm after though so not an issue any more.
