Mchandle Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 We are having a slight outbreak on our teacher computers. Vosteran is being installed even though they don't have admin rights. After its loaded it attempts to execute more .EXEs and CMD prompts. It also tries to default the home page to a proxy services provider. I'm sure some of you have encountered this PUP before but have any of you experienced an outbreak? Any helpful tips in blocking this?
disk Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Maybe try: Download Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 5.1 from Official Microsoft Download Center or Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit - Free Zero-Day Exploit Protection
difinity Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Check browser logs and look to block the source.
Mchandle Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks disk. I'm now looking into our settings and seeing if anything else is wrong. It seems that windows DEP is disabled on all of our systems. Is there any benefit to not running DEP? Is it something that should be enabled?
