Hello, I have just replaced an old server with a shiny new one with server 2012 r2 on it.

i have set up ad and gpo etc however the settings seam to be hit and miss.

so of the machine have picked up the start up policy to install software etc and some havent, they all apply policies that add a network drive for sims but not settings such as proxy or wsus. Even the server its self isnt picking up the wsus policy though it says it is.

any ideas or help would be fantastic

many thanks

Does the machine pick up that it should have applied a GP - if you open a command and do gpresult /scope computer /v does it report that GP has been allocated. I had a similar problem with Server 2012 R2 & win8 machines. Would be really hit and miss, tried gpupdate /force and rebooted 4-5 times tried it over a space of 2-3 days but never got it to consistently apply them. Then a week later it all seemed to kick in so never really got to the bottom of it!

Hi, I worked with a few 2012 R2 servers now and have found software deployment a bit hit and miss at times, something that I have found that generally works for me is in the same GPO that you use to install software, enable 'Always install with elevated privileges' this can be found in Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Installer. Give the PCs a gpupdate /force after the server of course, restart and all being well the software should start to deploy.

I hope that helps that side of your issues anyway.
