Thought i would start a new thread with tips for everyone on how to survive the day.

11 tips for surviving Bett 2015 - IRIS Connect

 

1. Register beforehand – Pre-registering on the Bett show website means you won’t need to queue on the day so you’ll have more time to talk to exhibitors and make your way around the hall. bett-show

 

2. Keep up to date – Find an updated show guide when you arrive, just in case any booth information has changed or been revised.

 

3. Prioritise – Making sure you’ve decided beforehand who you want to see and what you want to do on the day means you won’t waste any time planning when you’re there. Find out the times of the speakers at the Bett Arena, so as not to miss Nicky Morgan’s seminar or Sir Ken Robinson’s keynote, in which he will challenge many of the test-based, standardised educational ‘reforms’ being pushed around the world.

 

4. Sign up for the School Leaders Summit – This session will aim to address the challenges your school faces in the constantly changing education sector. The summit will offer senior leadership teams the chance to learn, share and discuss key and current issues surrounding education. Get your free ticket here.

 

5. Use social media – Keep track of trending topics and people with social media; Bett have their own official facebook and twitter accounts. Twitter is great for staying in the know with what’s happening on the day – use the handles #Bett2015 or #BettChat to get involved.

 

6. Use non-powered technology – Take a notepad and pens just in case your gadgets run out of battery, so you can still get the most out of the day, remember all important info and take down any contact names and numbers.

 

7. Travel lightly – A small backpack may be a good idea to carry any flyers you pick up, or for any freebies you are given. However, the less you carry, the more comfortable you will be. Take only what you need from exhibitors and try to pack your bag to a minimum so it’s not weighing you down by the end of the day.

 

8. Stay healthy and hydrated – You’ll be on your feet for a lot of the day so make sure you drink lots of water to keep energised. Although there will be food suppliers there, they can be expensive, so you may want to take your lunch with you. It’s also a good idea to carry small snacks with you. It may also be wise to take a hand sanitizer or wash your hands regularly – there’ll be a lot of handshakes!CPD at BETT 2011

 

9. Remember whose business card you’ve taken – Whenever you take a business card from an exhibitor, make a short note on the back that will help you remember who that person is, what you discussed and why you took their card.

 

10. Don’t give your information to everyone – Only let people who you’re actually interested in getting more information from scan your badge. Otherwise, you will be inundated with follow-up calls and emails for weeks to come!

 

11. Ask advice – BESA, the education sector’s trade association is located at the information point by the main entrance to the building. Go and see them if you have any questions to avoid wasting time trying to find answers yourself.

 

but i suggest possibly an external battery charger for your device.

12. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!

 

13. Print your pass before you go. The link is in your confirmation email. It saves queueing when you get there.

 

14. Wear layers. It can get quite warm. There is a left luggage/cloakroom at Excel for dumping stuff.

 

15. Be at the edugeek stand for 12.15pm pizza. You'll need it!

For the sake of or members some clarity is needed here. After BETT last year we were all on our last night out together and the pub we were in just called time. Ric declared that he knew of another bar with a late licence 'Not far away'.

What followed next was a journey not unlike the sketch in Monty Pythons The Meaning of Life where the waiter guides you to his place of birth. But this one included a bus ride as well.

Hence his no longer being allowed to recommend any bars unless verified by a second source.

And the one he took is to was rubbish as well

I saw the map earlier today, not sure how it will come out on A4, A3 might just be readable - im only guessing, dont have access to a printer at home.

I have downloaded it to my tablet. Much easier to use than the app

I presume the app doesn't have one of those indoor GPS like tracking things that shows you where you are or even stand numbers....so yes download the floor plan seems to be the way to go.
