Outlook and Exchange 2013

Anyone have any ideas why I can't get the two to talk to one another?

 

We have an Exchange 2013 server that is working. Sending and receiving e-mails. Users connect via the OWA just fun. No issues at all.

 

Our Finance team need to run Outlook locally instead of use the OWA so the finance software they use can send e-mails through Outlook. I've installed Outlook 2013 but what ever I do - Exchange, POP, IMAP, SMTP - I can't get Outlook to communicate with the Exchange server.

 

Anybody able to hold my hand and guide me though this one?

Looks like Outlook will only connect using Outlook Anywhere which requires a proper SSL cert, this could be a bit tricky. Any ideas why I can't get POP3 to connect? The services have been started on the server and POP3 is enabled for the user account. Do I need to set up any send or receive transport hubs for use with POP3 connections?

Can I suggest you just fix the problem, you don't really want to be doing POP3 its horrid.

 

Why can't you do a self signed one if this is only going to be used internally? You can issue a local one and put it as trusted on the finance PCs (even via GPO) and it will work fine then.
