[sims] Discover V SISRA

We are having a demo of SISRA next week. SLT seem quite keen on it. I know very little about its abilities and how it compares with SIMS Discover. I am quite keen for us to develop use of Discover, would we gain a lot more from SISRA?

From having a quick look at both. I would say that sisra is loads better and can analyse a lot more data.

 

I think you have to manually upload data to sisra via CSV.

I don't really use either product day-to-day but our exams and data people rave about Sisra. To be honest, I think they work well side by side rather than as a direct replacement for each other.

 

We've given access to Sisra to our Heads of Department and provided training which has taken a lot of work away from the data manager and they have become quite self sufficient.

Thanks for the comments thus far. It would be great to hear from people who have experience of both products and useful to know if they overlap or do different things. Also it would be useful to know the amount of time or training needed for teaching staff to use it and get the information that they need.

As benjie says above someone needs to manually update data on SISRA which is the only downfall of things I've heard.

 

We've only recently elected to go with SISRA so I can't really give any more feedback than that sorry, other than it seems like a simple system to use and their customer service has been quite good.

We're using SISRA over and above Discover. The latter is pretty, and certainly simpler to use, and SISRA seems to cater well for people with an excel fetish. I don't know the reasons why but the people analysing data here seem to think it's the right choice.

Our Data team here have bought it and they are receiving training this week, from what I have seen it analyses the data more intensely and gives a better interpretation of the data held with Sims.

 

I haven't been brought up to speed as what the requirements are as I am out of the loop as per usual (I'm only the guy who has to install and configure) so as for training, I will receive non, but be expected to know it inside out.

 

Quite frankly I don't give a damn!
