SCOM help

Hi all

 

I wanted to start making as much and productive use of SCOM. has anyone been using this? Any good resources to get up and started. Seems like you can get as involved as you want to with the manager. Ideally to start out I wanted to get some basic monitoring up and running so I can have a display viewer running showing us statues etc

 

Any help/advise would be much appreciated

I use it where I work and for Microsoft stuff it's great, time consuming tweaking and adjusting it to be less shouty however as its very shouty out of the box. Add in the agent packs slowly till you get used to them and tune as you go it's certainly a nice tool and a useful one at that just needs quite a bit of time initially.

When you first set it up,you will look at all the alerts and think *#*% because it says everything is broken. My personal favorite os the disk defrag levels :/. The integration and beat practice stuff with other MS products like Exchange etc ia very good though.
