mattasquith Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Hi everyone, I'm currently doing some market research into the connectivity speeds that are provided within student halls of residence. I'm just focusing on off-campus at the moment as I know there will be huge connections within on-campus accommodation. If there's anybody who provides connections to student flats or any such like, it would be great if you could help me. I just need you to answer the following 3 questions: 1. How many students do you supply with internet? (This can be an average across sites if you have multiple sites) 2. Do you provide tiers of access? 3. What size connection do you have? Any information would be appreciated. You can answer anonymously if you wish. Thanks in advance.
SchoolsBroadband Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Hi @mattasquith, we currently provide access to quite a few around the country. Answers are below, I hope this helps 1. On average each site has about 350 students 2. In some cases yes, in others no. It depends on the management company and how they the sell this to the students. e.g some management companies include a 10Mbit connection FOC in the student flat rent, but they can upgrade to 100Mbit for £10pm 3. The latest ones we are putting in have a 300Mbit connection on a 1Gbit bearer with full security and firewalling too as part of a managed service. Thanks Dave 1
