Create menu & sub-menu with Edugeek Joomla

Hi

 

We are seriously considering using the Edugeek Joomla package for our school website, I am trying to create a menu similar to “the curriculum” http://www.edugeek.octoink.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=22 There is a button in the orange section and when you click you can see a sub-menu on the right. I am having trouble getting the sub-menu there I have been trying for hours!

 

Please can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this please?

Have you created the sub menu? If so then find it in the modules section of the backend admin. Open the module settings and puplish to the right position and under Pages / Items select the pages you want said menu to appear.

So if I understand you want to create a new main menu ittem ( orange section) complete with side menu? Is this to include new content also?

Yes.

 

Relating to the picture i have attached.

 

Step one you click the orange main menu at the top in this case step 1 "Curriculam" and then there is a second menu of links on the right in this case step 2 "Curriculam Menu".

 

I have been messing round for ages and can't get my head round it!

SYSMAN_MK thanks for that I am nearly there now, just one snag the links are not appearing on the sub menu I don't know if I have missed something. I have attached a picture to show you.

Hummm i take it you have created the individual menu items? and they are published?

When I go into the menu manager then the appropriate menu I can see them all and they are all published.

Yeah complicated that one. Takes ages of searching around and becoming familiar with the way joomla works.

 

Those submenu's are in modules > site modules, then in the content > content by section submenu items you need a link created to the submenu. Back to the module > site module, your submenu needs a link in pages/items - indicated by the one's highlighted in blue.

 

That sounds horribly complex, but it's easy once you get into it. U prolly doin most of the above, but missed out a bit. Hope U can work it out anyway.. I know Joomla can be frustrating like that.

I'm just guessing but are you sure the menu items are published for all, and not just registered users? Also are you publishing the right menu module?

 

If you followed the attached pdf guide you should have no problems.

That's your problem. The menu module you are trying to use is not a menu module, rather a custom module.

 

Goto Modules > Site Modules

 

Copy the "Curriculum Menu" You will now have a new menu called "Copy of Curriculum Menu"

 

Open "Copy of Curriculum Menu"

 

Rename the Module and using the Menu Name dropdown box select your new staff menu.

 

Publish as before.
