IcedBreeze Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Hi guys, I have an issue with my schools proxy settings on a few laptops and it's proving to be a real headache. This post will hopefully be able to generate a few ideas and bring me closer to the root of the issue. To remotely install some bits of software I need my proxy to be ON... Ok, here are the details: 3 x Laptops HP 250 G1 (x86)with Ralink wireless driver, Windows 7 Professional Browsing the internet does not work with the proxy ON. Browsing the internet does work with the proxy OFF. The proxy address and port number are 100% correct and working on nearly every laptop. I can ping any website and proxy server/default gateway I have tried... (with no luck) Removing Wireless networks Resetting the adapter Uninstalling the driver Static IP Non-Static IP IPConfig (Release, Renew, Flush DNS) NetShell - netsh int ip reset Removing from the domain REBUILDING the laptop Removing wireless profiles from registry Here's the kicker... this happened yesterday and I had to give up in the end. The member of staff then took the laptop home an connected to her Wi-Fi as normal. When she brought it back in the next day and reconnected to the sites Wi-Fi, all was working once again. But its happened again today with another member of staff. Can you guys think of anything else I might be able to try? Many thanks. Edited December 5, 2014 by IcedBreeze
LiamH Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 When you ipconfig /renewed and set the static IP was to the same address? Maybe try ipconfig /release and then clear its reservation in DHCP then renew and see if it picks up another address and works, the taking it home thing maybe have just let the lease expire.
