A headless depiction of the river god Ilissos has been sent to Russia to go on display in St Petersburg's State Hermitage Museum until mid-January.

 

I can't help but notice the statue has its 'bits' on show, though.. Presumably it will be censored as homosexual propaganda, then?

I doubt it. I've been to the Hermitage and there was the usual selection of nude sculptures and paintings on display. Very nice it was too!

 

OT. While I was there, I was told off by one of the uniformed guards for taking a picture of the stairs. I apologised and pointed out that she looked very smart in her uniform (she was very beautiful in any case) and she let me take a picture of her at the foot of the same staircase.
