[sims] Urgent help required please for SIMS & Solus installation.

Hi,

 

I'm pretty new setting up servers in schools so please be patient if I'm asking dumb questions.

 

I'm replacing a admin server soon and was wondering where the setup files would be for SIMS and Solus. I've loooked around in various folders and drives but nothing obvious can be seen. The school is relectant to bring Capita in due to limited budget and their old IT Tech was sacked in June and no one is allowed to contact him.

Is this something that I can do easily as I have very little help.

 

I will also need to install SIMS on the SENCO, head and dep head laptops. From speaking with their ICT Co-ordinator, in the past she copied the SIMS folder from Program Files and SIMS.ini onto a USB stick and copied it onto a laptop and seems to be working ok. Can you do it this way?

 

Any advise/help will be very much appriciated.

You really shouldn't be doing this if you have no experience and little support.

Get the school to contact their support company / Capita for advice. This will be provided free of charge, as part of the support contract.

SIMS has to be installed properly, you can't just copy files to a new machine.

Your support company could also be the local authority, but your school will (or should) have a support contract with someone.
