Mass Emailing Students?

Do any schools mass email students?

 

I've always thought this wasn't a good idea but I've been asked to do it more and more regularly. I can't just create an Office 365 distribution list as the students could then use that

 

Are there any 3rd party apps for this?

You can create a DL, say with each year group as a separate DL but then restrict who can send to it i.e. staff.

We use distribution lists (admittedly within Exchange) - we simply limit the people who can send to that group. We have a group for each year group, and for each house.

We have dist. groups for each year - with the head of year in each one.

If a pupil sends something daft then they are pulled in by the HOY (and normally again by me) for a "talk". Usually one or two a term and the message gets around.

If pupils are sending useful stuff around then thats fine.

I've managed to hide the distribution group from the shared address book and require moderator approval but I see no option to change the sender permissions.

 

Any idea where this is in Office 365?

Aha I had skipped that option as I read it as applying to external contacts.

 

Appreciate the help with this.

 

I guess I have no reason to stop staff using this now
